Zebee City Guide Series: Belfast, Northern Ireland

Belfast is close to our hearts here at Zebee and we cannot put enough emphasis on how under-rated a city this is on the global stage. Known for The Titanic, George Best and Game of Thrones we feel Christy has done it justice with this insider guide. Check out her gram @Christyhunter26 for more Belfast inspiration and a hell of a lot of cute dog pictures!!

TELL US YOUR FAVOURITE AREA / HIDDEN GEM...

Cuban sandwich factory... nothing to look at from the outside and seriously messy to eat but these taste like no other toasted sandwiches the world!

MY FAVOURITE BAR OFF THE BEATEN TRACK...

The sunflower bar... out of the bustle of Cathedral Quarter it's worth finding this little gem. They also do great pizza and they're dog friendly too

ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE A NEW VISITOR TO THE CITY...

Walk everywhere (the city is tiny and you'll pass so many lovely bars, cafes and things to see) and speak to the locals - we really are a friendly bunch!

THAT GREAT PLACE WITH INCREDIBLE PRICE...

The Morning Star is an old pub that's off the beaten track but they do a 'big plate' buffet for just over a fiver. It's a great way to try gorgeous fresh traditional Irish pub food... but they're sticklers for the rules such as no piling your plate sky high and no seconds!

THE ONE FOOD DISH YOU HAVE TO TRY...

Mussels from Mourne Seafood Bar 😍

NUMBER ONE TOURIST TRAP TO AVOID...

The Crown Bar... world famous but so packed with American tourists that it lacks atmosphere and you will find it hard to get near the bar. You'll pay over the odds too

HOW TO DO THE TOURIST SIGHTS WITHOUT BEING A TOURIST...

Walk everywhere and do the Seedhead Arts Street Art Walking Tour... it gives you a real feel for Belfast and its history without being boring or stuffy.

FINALLY...

If you're there on a Tuesday visit the Empire - a gorgeous place with the best comedy night in the city. Get there early to get seats and then check out Discobeard playing downstairs for free afterwards. Also it's worth taking a short glider bus to Stormont Estate. Whilst we have the world's worst government, we have the absolutely gorgeous (but vacant) Parliament Buildings. The grounds are gorgeous for a walk particularly around sunset :)
